Is Laser Cleaning and Laser Rust Removal really mobile?
Yes!
Our setup includes a laser machine, all PPE, dust extraction, laser safety screens and stand-alone power . This means we can tackle jobs anywhere a vehicle and trailer can get to, even where there’s no power.
We can accommodate unique projects such as copper roof oxide removal, bridge rust/coating removal, hi-rail solutions and more!
We look forward to hearing about your next challenge.
Is it safe to be near a laser while operating?
Yes!
Peak Laser Cleaning only engages skilled technicians trained in proper safety and operation of lasers. The PPE we provide them covers head to toe and exceeds industry standards.
Our machines are equipped with various sensors and safety measures to provide a safe environment for the operator and bystanders.
Peak Laser Cleaning also uses laser specific screens to protect people nearby from scattered laser light. And if you’d like to have a closer look at the process, we usually have spare laser safety glasses that you can borrow.
How much does Laser Cleaning and Laser Rust Removal cost?
There are many variables that affect the price of laser cleaning and rust removal such as location, material and access. As a rough guide, prices start at approx. $200 + GST per hour for regular jobs requiring a single laser machine in metro Sydney. A minimum cost generally applies for small jobs. Most materials can be cleaned at 1 to 5 square metres/hour.
Factors that increase the cost include, among other things, additional equipment (e.g. access equipment), specialised labour (e.g. abseilers, rail track protection officer), permits etc. that may be required for your particular job. Alternatively if you have the required equipment and labour, we can provide the laser cleaning equipment on a dry hire basis in most cases.
Then there’s travel and accommodation for long jobs interstate or in remote areas.
For dry hire, rates start at $950 per day per 200w pulsed laser mobile unit including training and support if needed. This includes a fully equipped registered trailer with power and PPE to conduct your own laser cleaning and laser rust removal. There are rate reductions for long term hire.
Please note these costs are only a guide and do not represent a binding quote or offer of any product or service. All jobs and hire offers must be formally quoted by Peak Laser Cleaning. Please reach out for a detailed quote.
How does the cost of laser cleaning and rust removal compare to other methods?
Mobile laser cleaning and laser rust removal is often more efficient than other traditional methods such as media blasting, chemical based solutions, pressure washing etc. particularly for medium to large or difficult jobs. Some benefits include:
- Usually faster per m2 than most other methods when a sufficiently powered laser is used
- Doesn’t rely on large amounts of consumables such as water, media or harmful chemicals
- Saves on labour costs as it doesn’t require multi-person teams supporting only one operator (unless specifically required for the job e.g. cranes, safety officer)
If you have a job and want to compare laser cleaning and laser rust removal with traditional methods, please contact us and we can provide you with an all inclusive quote for easy comparison.
How does laser cleaning and rust removal compare to other methods?
A pulsed laser removes and vaporises the contaminating layer without damaging the underlying material when used with the correct settings. This remains true for delicate materials such as sheet metal on car panels which can suffer distortion from media-blasting. Harsh chemicals can erode the base material and result in rust returning faster and deeper potentially causing permanent damage to some substrates.
As for time, laser cleaning is often faster when a suitably powered laser machine is used for the job. Laser cleaning and laser rust removal also has far less preparation and cleanup compared almost every other method. This means it is often more effective and efficient than traditional methods.
